Zak Rivers and Wilderness Mindsets film features the oldest man to canoe the Mississippi

MANKATO, MN, April 19, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Zak Rivers (MN) and Wilderness Mindset (MT) have made a feature-length film documenting the world record trip of 87-year old Dale “GREYBEARD” Sanders who took on the entire length of the Mississippi River by canoe—around 2,340 miles.

The film, GREYBEARD: The Man, The Myth, The Mississippi has been publicly released for DVD purchase as well as streaming. In January 2023 it premiered at Lookout Wild Film Festival, winning the “Audience Choice” award. In February 2023 it was chosen to tour with Paddling Magazine Film Festival, winning “Best Canoe Film.”

On June 14 of 2022, Zak, Alex Maier and Amy Robin (Wilderness Mindset) filmed Dale “GREYBEARD” Sanders as he launched his canoe and began his 87-day journey in Itasca, at the Mississippi headwaters. During the three months that followed, the film crew, assisted by GoPros, cinema cameras and drones, captured Dale’s journey and told a life story of the man who holds other world records for his outdoor feats (oldest man to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2017, the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim, 2020). On September 8, 2022 as Dale reached the Gulf of Mexico and secured his spot in the record book, Zak and Wilderness Mindset were there capturing it all.
