CCUS.CA, a new media dedicated to informing the Canadian population about the latest in CCUS technology, incentives, and impacts, has officially launched

MONTREAL, QC, March 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The website aims to be a comprehensive resource for individuals, businesses, and policymakers interested in learning about CCUS, (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) a critical technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.

CCUS.CA will provide up-to-date news and analysis on CCUS, including government incentives and funding programs, technological advancements, and environmental impacts. For example, in 2020, the federal government announced a $2-billion fund for large-scale CCUS projects across Canada to support the development and deployment of CCUS technology. In addition, the Alberta government has invested over $1 billion in CCUS projects, including the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line, a pipeline network that transports CO2 from industrial facilities in the Edmonton area to depleted oil reservoirs for storage.

The site will also feature interviews with industry experts and policymakers, as well as opinion pieces and thought leadership on the future of CCUS in Canada and globally. CCUS.CA hopes to inform and educate Canadians about the potential of CCUS and help inform about the development and deployment of this critical technology.

“Our goal is to create a one-stop-shop for information on CCUS, so that Canadians can better understand the technology and its potential impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said John Bish, editor-in-chief of CCUS.CA.

CCUS.CA wants to report the efforts by the Canadian government to promote CCUS technology and deployment. For example, the Saskatchewan Carbon Capture and Storage Initiative has invested over $1 billion in CCUS projects in the province, including the Boundary Dam Carbon Capture Project and the Aquistore underground storage facility.

“We are excited to launch CCUS.CA and contribute to the conversation on CCUS in Canada,” said Bish. “We believe that CCUS is a critical tool for achieving Canada’s climate goals and that it deserves more attention and public awareness.”
