SPRINGFIELD, VA, March 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — Virginia swimming pool builder Town & Country Pools sponsored the drilling of a fresh water well in remote Peru, providing fresh water to residents. When subcontractor Josh Schaff from Iris Design Associates came to Town & Country Pools with an opportunity to sponsor the well, president Burton jumped at the opportunity.

Schaff is a member of a volunteer crew partnered with the nonprofit Mission Outfitter. Schaff’s volunteer crew drills fresh water drinking wells and provides composting toilets for indigenous peoples in the jungle regions of the Amazon basin. This year, the crew’s goal was to drill at least two fresh water wells and construct five composting toilets.

Town & Country Pools president, Burton, was not only excited to help the volunteer crew meet their goal but also to give back to the community. For Burton’s generosity, Mission Outfitter had a plaque made and posted on the top of the finished well. The plaque reads “Agua llmpia es esencial para la viva humana. Solo Jesucristo te puede da agua viva que es esencial para la vida spiritual. Pidela!” Roughly translating to “Clean water is essential for human life. Only Jesus Christ can give you living water that is essential to the spiritual life. Ask for it!”

In Peru’s jungles, water is scarce for almost nine months of the year, forcing women and young girls to walk miles each day for a source of water. Despite walking these distances each day to find “drinkable” water, many water sources in the Amazon basin contain bacteria, microbes, or pathogens which can cause life threatening and sometimes deadly diseases. A single well can provide safe, clean water for 35-40 people (four to five households).

Town & Country Pools Inc., located in Springfield, VA, was founded in 1977. Over the last 40 years they have completed over 2,600 custom residential swimming pool projects in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and surrounding communities. The driving theme of the company is simple: “One vision, one design, one builder to integrate the pool and landscape into a magnificent creation.”

Mission Outfitter was founded by Tom and Paula Redding. Part of Mission Outfitter’s mission is to gather, train, and outfit short-term mission teams. Their mission teams utilize Compassion Evangelism to bring the message of God’s love around the world. Through construction, water well drilling, medical and dental clinics, sanitation projects, children’s ministries, and drama evangelism their outreach is accomplished. Donations accepted at
