Ben Dressel and George Mahe discuss Dressel’s Public House Best Foodie Bar rating in St. Louis Magazine with Kevin Steincross on KTVI Fox 2 News.

ST. LOUIS, MO, September 19, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ — Ben Dressel, sole proprietor of Dressel’s Public House in the Central West End of Saint Louis, MO, appeared on KTVI Fox 2 News in the morning with host Kevin Steincross and St. Louis Magazine’s George Mahe, to discuss his excitement about being ranked as the number one foodie bar in St. Louis by Mahe and his team.

Ben Dressel prepared his restaurant’s famous Porchetta “Louie” while George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine, poured Dressel’s specialty cocktail, the Missouri Mule. These menu items are just two of the reasons why Dressel’s Public House took the number one spot as Best Foodie Bar in St. Louis Magazine in August of 2017.

Dressel’s Public House has been around since 1980 and implemented its farm-to-table dining experience in 2005. Since then, the pub and its cuisine, like the Porchetta “Louie” sandwich, Truffle Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque, and Dressel’s Pretzel Loaf, have been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and the pub was listed as one of the reasons why Esquire Magazine named St. Louis the 2009 Best Bar City.

“The Porchetta sandwich is a staple of our menu. It’s made from a beautiful pork butt rolled with secret spices and herbs,” said Dressel of his pub’s signature Porchetta “Louie” sandwich, “it goes into the pan with garlic, kale, steamed with beer, and tossed with three-cheese blend.”

Although the sandwich recipe calls for beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon to be specific, Mahe explained that the sandwich is paired with Dressel’s house specialty cocktail, the Missouri Mule, a variation on the Moscow Mule, but Dressel’s uses 360, a Missouri vodka, lime juice, and Dressel’s house-made ginger beer.

“We’ve got beer bars, wine bars, sports bars, Irish bars, and we put a section in on foodie bars, and Dressel’s is the number one foodie bar,” said Mahe when asked how the magazine was able to narrow down their results, “and really if there was a gastropub before that term ever came about, it probably would be Dressel’s.”

Steincross recommended that viewers pick up their copy of St. Louis Magazine in order to discover new places to try or even those that are tried and true like Dressel’s Public House.
