Standout features like Memosens digital connectivity set them apart

AUBURN, CA, February 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — South Fork Instruments, an established supplier of measurement instrumentation, analyzers, and control products, today announced the introduction of four new pH and ORP (oxidation reduction potential) sensors.

Three of the four products have digital Memosens capability as opposed to analog connectivity. Memosens technology allows for the digital transfer of measurement signals from sensors to process control systems. The benefits are manifold.

Said John Daly, Technical Director at South Fork Instruments, “Because they have an onboard chip, calibration data and history is stored on the probe itself. When connected to a Memosens aware transmitter, the units sync up and start measuring straight away. That means less downtime, more accurate calibration in cleaner conditions, better tracking and audit of probe life. The digital connection is inductive (like a toothbrush charger), removing the possibility of electrical connections corroding in wet conditions and reducing measurement quality/reliability, even if submerged!”

New data sheets are available and address the benefits and applications of the new sensors:

CPF81/CPF81D and OCPF82D/OCPF82: A robust range of pH and ORP combination electrodes available in a variety of sizes and with/without Memosens digital connectivity for industrial and processing applications.
OPGTDJ: Steam sterilizable pH/ORP combination electrode with a double-chamber, gel-filled reference system.
OPS11D: A reliable, high-performance pH combination electrode with Memosens digital connectivity, ideal for long-term monitoring and limit-value comparisons in a wide range of applications with relatively stable process conditions.
OPS71D: A high-performance pH combination electrode with Memosens digital connectivity, ideal for long-term monitoring and limit-value comparisons in aggressive pharmaceutical and chemical industry applications with fast-changing process conditions.

While they measure different properties, ORP and pH sensors work together to provide a more complete understanding of a solution and can be used to monitor and control processes. For example, in a chemical processing application, the pH level of a solution may need to be maintained within a certain range to ensure that the chemical reaction proceeds as desired. They are used in a wide range of applications, from wastewater monitoring of pulp and paper to buffer preparation, pharmaceutical formulation, fermentation, leaching in mining operations, and more.
