‘Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project’, in which this company is participating for the second year this year, is a project that NIPA has been implementing since last year. Founded in October 2019, Damin Robot has been selected as a designated task (autonomous mobility kiosk) for this project and is carrying out the project. As one of the autonomous service robot, a ‘guide robot based on self-driving to improve hospital patients’ experience’ will be developed and demonstrated.

The ‘Surgical guide robot’ developed and supplied by this company is a product to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and prevent increased patient dissatisfaction for the same procedure for patient identification and surgical site confirmation. University hospitals, large hospitals, and small and medium-sized hospitals are used as demand sources to reduce patient complaints and medical staff’s work.

CEO Kang said, “In the case of surgical patients, there are complaints because the medical staff checks the patient 5 to 6 times before surgery, and the work fatigue of medical staff also increases, which can cause errors. In this case, the patient and the hospital can suffer fatal damage, so measures to minimize it are necessary. The autonomous service robot that we are developing replaces the procedure for checking the information of the surgical patient, eliminating errors and increasing satisfaction of the patients and medical staff.”

The motive for Damin Robot to participate in NIPA’s ‘Close-to-Life Contact-Free Leading Service Project’ is that autonomous robots are suitable for solving the inconveniences of hospitals, which are closely related to people’s lives. In particular, the company believes that it can take the lead in distributing contact-free services that are close to life by solving fatal errors that may occur due to the high intensity of work in hospitals through robots.

There are two basic functions of autonomous robots. It is a driving platform for autonomous driving performance and safety. Damin Robot possesses both of these technologies. It has also acquired safety certification (ISO13482) to ensure safety in a space where people coexist. Unlike robots from large corporations, the company’s autonomous robots have the advantage of analyzing and reflecting customer requirements and manufacturing and supplying customized products. Damin Robot has experience supplying and applying production logistics robots to automobile parts factories.
