Security firm ranked ranked #15 out of 100 businesses nationally

NEW YORK, NY, January 05, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — City Safe Partners, (https://citysafepartners.com/), a Harlem, NY-based elite security firm, has been named a winner of the 2022 Inner City 100 (IC100) awarded by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC). Led by CEO Soyini Chan-Shue, the company was ranked #15 – out of 100 businesses – based on its four-year revenue growth rate.

“I am extremely pleased that City Safe has been named to ICIC’s Inner City 100,” said Chan-Shue. “As its CEO, it is my mission to continue to scale and grow the company, regardless of the pandemic and any other negative economic or employment cycles. Our success is based on strategic thinking, financial acumen, a dedicated and loyal staff, and a consistently expanding client base.”

Steve Grossman, CEO of ICIC, stated, “Businesses continue to contend with profound socioeconomic issues that have severely tested their ability to emerge stronger. The global pandemic, inflation, severe workforce limitations, and supply chain issues continually impact small business owners. Yet despite this challenging outlook, the Inner City 100 class of 2022 prevailed and stayed open for business. We couldn’t be prouder of these heroes whose energy and optimism inspire us every day.” Since 1999, ICIC has identified and celebrated the 100 fastest-growing businesses in under-resourced communities in the United States.

The 2022 Inner City 100 companies averaged 421% revenue growth and created 4,011 total jobs. Of these 100 winners, 50% are BIPOC-owned/led, and 50% are woman-owned/led, the latter of which is a record high-number in the program’s 24-year history.

Recognition and Growth for City Safe Partners
ICIC’s acknowledgment caps an impressive year of growth and success for City Safe. The company was recognized by the Women’s Presidents Organization and JP Morgan Chase as one of the country’s 50 fastest-growing women-owned/led companies, and by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a Woman Small Business Champion of the Year and a certified member of their HubZone Program. Chan-Shue also became a Platinum Member of WPO, which is a collective of over 2,000 entrepreneurs across 10 countries. WPO Platinum memberships are open to women whose companies gross over $10 million annually.

In 2022, City Safe expanded its tactical and administrative headcounts by approximately 25%, signed clients in the transportation and public housing sectors, expanded into Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey, created and managed a training program for a major airline, and is opening a new training center adjacent to its flagship 135th Street location.

“City Safe’s future is bright,” remarked Ms. Chan-Shue. “I’m grateful to ICIC, WPO, and, most importantly, to the hard-working and dedicated City Safe employees who come to work every day ready and willing to always put their best efforts forward.”

IC100 Methodology
Recognizing that concentrated poverty exists within metropolitan areas outside of big cities (and that poverty overall is suburbanizing), ICIC has revised its definition of an inner city (or under-resourced area) to encompass large areas of concentrated poverty in suburbs and smaller central cities as well as the large cities on which it has historically focused. The new “inner city” definition that ICIC has developed includes large low-income, high-poverty areas located in the urban and suburban parts of all but the smallest metropolitan areas. Every year, ICIC identifies, ranks, and awards the 100 fastest-growing businesses located in America’s under-resourced communities. In 2022, companies were selected and ranked by revenue growth over the four-year period between 2017 and 2021.
